The Weather Gods smiled for the 2019 Counties Cycle Classic run on Sunday October 13th by the Rotary Club of Pukekohe Inc.
With the start and finish at Pukekohe Park Raceway for the second year running, riders again got to experience the tarmac which recently hosted the famous V8 cars. The race started and finished with a near full lap of the track. And while the serious cyclists were out travelling through scenic Franklin Countryside, children got the opportunity to ride the racetrack too for a $10 donation.
Organiser Graham Russell was pleased with the turn out, and says once all the bills are paid the Club expects to have raised around $18,000 for various charities.
This great result is possible in part thanks to all those who generously sponsored the race as well as the entry fees.
Feedback has been positive with comments like:
Thanks for organising a great race - I had a great time and really enjoyed it
Yourself and the Rotary Club do an amazing job - thank you!
A big congratulations to you all on a REALLY well run event. This was my 1st time at this event but like my 7th or 8th event overall. This event was by a LONG WAY the best marshalled event I have participated in. Very impressed!
it was a brilliant event once again
A great and very well run event (my first time). Thanks so much to you and all your hard working team!
Thank you for a stunning race on Sunday and for the excellent organisation and marshals
The Rotary Club of Pukekohe is very grateful to all the volunteers who gave their time to help out with the event. It is a complex undertaking with marshalls needed at many of the key turn points on the three distance courses to direct riders. A drinks table in Waiuku was also run to help riders stay hydrated.
It was another incident free event with the ambulance driver on duty bored witless!
Russell says it’s planned to run the Counties Cycle Classic again next year around the same time, so stay tuned!
